Frequently Asked Questions
- What is Clear Lake’s “state of health”?
Clear Lake is in good health but, like many other lakes in Ontario, it requires ongoing care. The lake is monitored for nutrient levels and algal blooms. Following the “Dos and Don’ts” on our website helps keep the lake clean, safe, and enjoyable for everyone. - How big is Clear Lake? How many properties are on the lake?
Clear Lake, located in Perry Township within the Parry Sound District, has a surface area of 110 hectares (1.1 square kilometres) and a shoreline perimeter of 8.4 kilometres. There are over 200 active property owners within 500 metres of the lake’s shoreline. - How’s the fishing?
Clear Lake offers excellent fishing opportunities, attracting anglers year-round. - Is the lake good for recreational boating?
Yes! Clear Lake is ideal for a range of recreational boating activities. Please respect the lake’s natural surroundings and follow safe boating practices. - What commercial properties are on the lake?
Clear Lake is home to several lodges and a summer ski school, and local businesses support the area. Contact us for recommendations on local services. - How can lakefront property owners become better lake stewards?
Protecting the lake begins with simple actions like maintaining natural shorelines, reducing nutrient runoff, and respecting the local ecosystem. Check out the “Dos and Don’ts” on our website for more tips. - How do I become more involved in the Association?
The CLPOA is always looking for passionate individuals to join the Board of Directors or volunteer for water sampling and event planning activities. Contact any current Board member to express your interest. - Does the Association have any legal jurisdiction?
No. However, the CLPOA monitors activities that affect Clear Lake and advocates on behalf of its members to local authorities and organizations. We also guide property owners to the appropriate regulatory bodies for specific concerns. - Why does the Association need more members?
A larger membership strengthens our collective voice when addressing issues with local authorities and ensures we can continue initiatives that protect Clear Lake. Membership allows you to actively contribute to preserving the lake for future generations. - Why should I process my new or renewed membership online?
Online membership allows you to access and update your information, connect with other members (with their approval), and renew easily in the future. It’s a convenient way to stay engaged with the CLPOA community. And as an active CLPOA member, you will also have access to cost saving programs such as the new Superior Propane Buying Group agreement. - Why is the association transitioning to only credit card payments?
Manual payment processes such as cash, cheques and e-transfers are prone to membership account errors. Our goal is to provide members a seamless online experience that puts information control in their hands while significantly improving ease of use and account accuracy for renewals, booking pay-for events and receiving timely communications. - Who can I contact if I need help with LOGIN or REGISTER for the first time?
We have 2 Website Admin Directors that can assist you. Ken Moorhouse and George Vodouris both have the tools and knowledge to assist you. - I am not sure if I should go to REGISTER or LOGIN for the first time on your website?
If you are looking to join as a member, go to REGISTER on the header menu and follow the steps to set up your CLPOA account and pay your membership. Once that is done, all future visits should start with LOGIN so that you can enjoy full access to all the information and functionality provided to active CLPOA members. - How do I edit my online account profile?
Log into your account, select Member Area from the main header, select Member Area from the drop down menu and then select Edit Your Profile. You can edit everything except your username. - If a member does not have internet access at home or at the lake, how do I change to your new processes?
For members that do not have access to the internet for information and renewals, we recommend that you have one of your children manage your online cottage account and payments on your behalf. - We do not have a phone at the lake so what should we use as our Contact Details phone number?
Land lines at the lake are slowly disappearing so we suggest a cell phone number provides the best accessibility regardless of where you are. The person’s phone number who is responsible to manage your online account is likely the right choice for your Contact Details - I am concerned about having people be able to access my personal information on the CLPOA site.
We have developed our website application to provide you with several choices for sharing your information. Only other CLPOA members that have logged into their own online account can see any personal information AND only the information that you choose to enable. We encourage members to share their Names, Addresses and Cottage Phone or Cell number so that lake neighbors and lake friends can reach you if required. The choice on what is displayed is yours and any choice you make during registration can be modified on your online account at any time in the future. - How can I be confident that my online personal information and credit card payment processing is secure?
Your personal information is safely stored on our secure WordPress website, and our server is well protected. Additionally, credit card payments are processed by a trusted third party, which means your credit card details are never shared with us. - When registering a new account and entering my credit card information, what postal code should I use?
When the credit card company validates your transaction, they are looking for the mailing address to where your statements are mailed. - If I renew my membership prior to the existing expiry date, what happens?
When you renew your membership before your existing expiry date, we automatically add 1 year to the existing expiry date. - What is the Association’s mailing address?
Clear Lake Property Owners Association
